The 1917 Hematology/Oncology Clinic (located within The 1917 Clinic at UAB) was started in an effort to provide comprehensive care to patients diagnosed with Kaposi’s sarcoma, lymphoma and other cancers and blood disorders.
The 1917 Hematology/Oncology Clinic meets once every two weeks at the 1917 Clinic by appointment only every other Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Patients are referred by their physicians for evaluation of diagnosed and suspected cancers.
Patients, along with the hematology/oncology physicians and nurses, discuss and decide on treatment options and individual care plans. Patients also have the opportunity to participate in research trials if they are eligible and desire to do so.
Once treatment has been decided upon, it will be performed at the 1917 Clinic, with the exception of those patients requiring radiation therapy. Persons with HIV who are not 1917 Clinic patients may also be referred to the Hematology/Oncology Clinic by their personal physicians.
If you have additional questions regarding these services, ask one of the Clinic nurses.
